VerifiedKatherine V.March 9, 2023.While recovering from injuries sustained from a car accident, I have seen a few different acupuncturists as well as a chiropractor and masseuse at Inner Gate, and I have appreciated them all. The care I've received has been stellar - compassionate, personable, considerate, and soothing. Truly, Inner Gate practitioners have greatly helped me in my healing process. Thank you!VerifiedAbbie W.July 26, 2022.I have been seeing Nick Maxwell for Craniosacral massage for the last several months after a car accident left me with whiplash, nagging low back pain, a mild concussion, and stress and anxiety. He is an incredibly gifted healer that has helped me immensely! I have had a plethora of bodywork over the years, and I can undoubtedly say that his massages are the best. He has also helped with digestive issues/SIBO/nervous system recovery. I would never see anyone else again after finding him. I am much calmer, happier, and healing well thanks in big part to his care.VerifiedElizabeth M.February 10, 2022.Well, I will start by saying that Nicholas Maxwell is my favorite massage therapist. I went to him after 1 year of shoulder pain. Before going to him, I was waiting for the pain to just go away; it didn't. He was the first person I sought any help from. I'm sorry to say, I didn't expect that much relief from a massage but after about 3 sessions I felt close to cured of 1 whole year of pain! He recommended a great physical therapist to solve my shoulder stiffness and pain. My pt said that Nick did a great job of loosening up the muscles for a quicker recovery. Nick seemed to wipe out all the surface pain and extraneous tenderness so that my pt could pinpoint my injury which turned out to be shoulder tendonitis. Now I see both of them concurrently. They both gave the same estimate for recovery, which was shorter than I thought it would be. I've had more that 50 massages in my lifetime (CA, NY, NV), Nick is the only massage therapist I have been to that leaves me feeling better for days and days after the actual massage. If I could describe what Nick's massages feel like, it would be like this: If the ocean waves had massaging hands, they would be Nick's. Before going to Nick, I am a chuck steak. After my massage, I am filet mignon. What can I say, Nick Is Awesome!!VerifiedJulian J.November 4, 2021.My physical therapist suggested acupuncture for my chronic knee injury in July 2021. I'm going to explain my story, but I want to say at the beginning that Emma Ellsworth at Inner Gate Health & Wellness saved me from a life of chronic pain. It's really difficult and frustrating to find good care anywhere these days, so trust me when I tell you that you can end your search now. Just call Inner Gate and ask for Emma. I always find it helpful to read health care reviews from folks who suffer from the same issues as me, so here's a bit about my medical history: My orthopedic physician diagnosed me with IT band syndrome in my right knee in January 2021. I began a course of physical therapy, but not only did the IT band syndrome not get better, I actually developed IT band syndrome in my left leg due to overcompensation. I pushed myself a little too hard and started noticing that even very light exercise would cause my symptoms to flare up (inflammation, pain, swelling, etc.). By May 2021, I could not walk more than 3 blocks at a time without my knees flaring up. Keep in mind that I'm an otherwise healthy person in my mid-30s. I then developed hamstring tendinopathy in both legs, I assume to disuse. Along with preexisting patellofemoral pain syndrome issues, suffice to say that my knees were totally busted, okay. After all that, my physical therapist and orthopedic physician basically threw their hands up and suggested either cortisone shots for the rest of my life, acupuncture, or prescription pain medication that I really shouldn't be taking due to family history of hypertension. In comes Emma. I'm a huge believer in modern Western medicine and everything, but Emma succeeded where two physical therapists, a physiatrist, my orthopedic physician, and my primary care doctor all failed. Emma succeeded not only because she did something they did not - acupuncture - but she succeeded because she was more effective and patient at taking time to find the actual root cause of my issues. She is super methodical about interviewing me at the beginning of every session, evaluating what worked / didn't work from last time, trying out new areas for acupuncture, and over the course of 4 weeks eventually found an acupuncture solution that reduced my pain. I remember when it happened - I had an acupuncture session one Friday in October, and two days later I was going for a walk and ended up walking like 3 times further than I had walked in the past 6 months. I stopped and was like, "Wow my legs don't hurt at all." The pain literally vanished, went from a 5-6/10 on the pain scale all day every day down to 0-1. The massive pain reduction has allowed me to resume my physical therapy exercises with less pain and start rebuilding my knee strength. I still go to acupuncture to deal with some knee meniscus issues and overall wellness / mental health issues. Honestly, I feel such a tremendous sense of wellness after every acupuncture session that I kind of don't ever want to stop going. Anyway, if you made it this far, thanks for reading and hopefully my story is helpful. Seriously, go see the folks at Inner Gate. You won't regret it!!VerifiedMitchell P.October 19, 2021.Inner Gate Health & Wellness provides exceptional care! Their staff, specifically Emma Ellsworth, is skillful, compassionate, and effective at providing holistic healing services, including acupuncture. I highly recommend treatment with Inner Gate and Emma Ellsworth for symptoms including depression, anxiety, pelvic floor pain, back pain, and digestion issues.VerifiedRuben S.April 15, 2021.This is a long overdue, rave review for Terry. I've been to many acupuncturists over the last decade and she is hands down the most helpful and accommodating. I came in with a very unsolvable problem (tinnitus) and had tried everything before coming to Terry. Terry has helped improve my symptoms with Tinnitus and a number of other issues. She's also extremely patient and takes time out of every session at the beginning to go over progress and how I'm feeling. She has a good understanding of my problems and is always ready with solutions to help. Acupuncture with Terry is one of the highlights of my week -- thank you for being so great!!VerifiedDr. Kaley B.November 28, 2020.Very impressed! Great acupuncture, well organized front desk. Liz is fantastic, and I'm not a fan of needles. Finally got some relief from back and neck pain. Looking forward to a few more sessions!VerifiedAbbie W.September 15, 2020.I highly recommend Oliver Leonetti at Innergate Acupuncture! I have seen him for the last 12 years for various ailments - ranging from nagging sports injuries to digestive issues to insomnia/anxiety, and he always provides the highest level of care that truly lasts. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and skilled, but he is super kind and caring and always take the time to truly listen. I always feel better after leaving my appointment. I honestly do not know what I would do without Oliver or Innergate Acupuncture! Also, I've seen several of the acupuncturists there, and they are all fantastic as well.VerifiedM W.July 9, 2020.I can't recommend these guys enough! I have a 10 yr old competitive skier who was having some knee pain & had never had acupuncture done before...not only did these guys gently ease him into the entire process - they also helped him get back on the ski hill after the first couple of treatments I was super impressed with their professionalism & how both Liz and Casey approached his injury - now my little guy looks forward to going to his acupuncture appointments! Yay! Thank you a zillion times over for taking such good care of my little guy.VerifiedAbby J.January 9, 2020.I used to think acupuncture was sort of hokey. Not total witchcraft, but definitely not the magic, cure-all that people said. Well, folks, a few months in and I can report that I'm a changed woman! Well, really, it only took one session. Terry took my whole health history into consideration and helped with everything. Anxiety, sleeplessness, colds, ankle injuries, back pain--you name it. I've come in with problems and always left improved. I'm sure all the acupuncturists are lovely, but I want to stress how awesome Terry is. She takes my concerns seriously without making me feel like I'm at a stuffy doctors office. She approaches her work with humor and friendliness and is spot on with her treatment. Terry has made me feel comfortable from the get-go and has made my weekly appointments something for me to look forward to. My friends all have heard me rave about her, so I'd say everyone I know should go see her, but then I may never be able to squeeze in my appointments again! Just kidding, of course. Also, big props to the front desk staff too. They have been super kind and helpful when guiding me through insurance issues or unexpected after work traffic. I'd highly recommend Inner Gate SE to anyone with any ailment!
Brian Sicotte2023-06-25I can't say enough about Dr Heather Krebsbach, ND, LAc at Inner Gate Health and Wellness. I've worked in the Entertainment Industry for 30 years now and over the long span acquired degenerative arthritis in my wrists specifically my right. My job and duties over the past 30 years of intelligent muscle labor has wreaked havoc on my wrists the weakest link on my entire body. I went to an orthopedic surgeon and got a 2nd opinion and both stated "I'm sorry to tell you this...you have degenerative arthritis in your right wrist and most likely in a month or two your left wrist will start hurting as well. I felt like when they both told me this... it was like they were apologizing that I was on my deathbed... I asked them, 'is there any form of therapy that I can treat my condition.' They both said "NO!" There is nothing you can do and I don't recommend surgery because you are too young. I mentioned acupuncture, physical therapy, supplements, cortisone shot, exercise, naturopathic remedies, and all was a big disapproved head turn of "NO". Like I wasn't getting it. I ignored everything they said and called Inner Gate and met with Dr Heather and was blown away on her recommending a specific Collagen to buy and try for 6 weeks and my life has been better ever since. I now have got my brother and sister to go see her and they are convinced as well that Dr. Heather is a true HEALER. (as well as her husband Casey who is my acupuncturist.) At 52 years old I could honestly say that I have a lot of love for these 2 people because I was in so much pain and they HEALED ME:) I can go on and on about them but I'll spare you the epic novel. Thank you Dr Heather and Casey. You are both a hidden treasure to me that I feel so priviledge to let shine now:) Namaste!Kate2023-05-09Izzy rocks!Heather Smith2023-04-25Casey is an amazing healer in a surprising package. He fixed my back when I threw it out and gave me tools to reset my body and get stronger. He is such an awesome person to have on your wellness team. The office personnel are professional and awesome, and they were really helpful at managing the insurance side of things. Thanks!Christina Song2023-03-21Sitting here with so much relief that I feel compelled to come here to sing Innergate’s praises. I’ve been a patient there for over 5 years and have worked with different providers from Casey to Elizabeth. I’m so chuffed at how better I feel that I am fully taking advantage of the whole team and have scheduled to work with the naturopath on staff. I started going for horrible period symptoms but have been seen for an assortment of issues such as TMJ, migraines/headaches and sleep problems. Casey helped me figure out a three week tension headache that was seriously ruining the quality of my life. Elizabeth was able to help me sleep through the night and jump started my two year cardio streak. She’s also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to food as medicine. I’m so thankful for these wonderful practitioners. They take my insurance and I look forward to going in every time. Highly recommend!Brian Danielson2023-03-17My first two visits have been absolutely perfect. Acupuncture really helped my shoulder and arm as it was in very bad form. Can't recommend this place enough.Nashoni Whitlock2023-01-28Renee and Brad have been treating my sciatic and neck pain for a few weeks and I can already feel an improvement in pain levels and ability to work. Treatments were designed wonderfully and much more intended was resolved.Zim Zimmerman2023-01-13Five Stars for acupuncturist Elizabeth Bourgeois. Liz knows more about the workings of the human body than most of the medical doctors I have seen and she has an uncanny ability to ask questions, test a few points, and hone in on the exact cause of whatever happens to be paining my 50-year-old body at the time. The day before my first visit with Liz I'd been roller skating and did an accidental and involuntary split--kind of like James Brown, except I didn't GET UP! Anyway, my primary care provider was not very helpful told me I had a pulled muscle and sent me limping home. Liz, within moments of meeting me, identified exactly which muscle was injured and where. She knew exactly where to put the needles for immediate pain relief, and it's no exaggeration to say that I limped in and walked out. I continue to see Liz regularly to treat some chronic issues and the inevitable new pain of the month. The office staff at IGH&W are all super friendly and I 10/10 would recommend them. Especially Liz for acupuncture.Leslie Bell2022-11-28I originally came to the Halsey clinic to see Dr. Heather Krebsbach who has helped me manage multiple health issues. She is AMAZING and deserves every “Best Doctor” award she receives! The front desk staff are great—always helpful and pleasant. The primary reason I’m leaving this review however is to recognize Renee Fields. I started getting medicinal massages from her about a year ago to help ease my chronic pain from both a lower back injury and almost daily battles with headaches. I’ve had many different massage therapists over the years and I can easily say that Renee is THE BEST! On top of being a great LMT, she is also an amazing person! Very intuitive, compassionate and intelligent. I enjoy our conversations as much as the relief I get from our appointments. She offers massage packages that help make getting treatments more affordable! All in all, my experiences at Inner Gate have been great!Mark2022-10-05I have never had a more thorough, thoughtful, clear medical appointment in my life. Treatment Overview
What to Expect
Chiropractic medicine is a safe and natural health care option offering a holistic approach that incorporates sound medical knowledge to treat a multitude of acute and chronic conditions.
Our chiropractic adjustments are non-invasive treatments that manually adjust the spine, other joints, and soft tissues to restore proper alignment of the body’s structures. These chiropractic adjustments improve the mobility of body structures restricted by injury and reduce pain.
Our chiropractors incorporate soft tissue therapy with their chiropractic adjustments. The additional soft tissue therapy may involve a small additional cost but is essential to good care and well worth the cost.
We are Extensively Trained

Private Insurance: Axis, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Providence, Moda, United, PacificSource and many others.

Auto accidents can cause problems like whiplash, neck pain or back pain. Left untreated these problems can persist for months. Treatment soon after the accident with one of our Portland chiropractors can help address the symptoms of whiplash and other related injuries so that you can heal quickly.
It is important to seek chiropractic care instead right away. We recommend seeing your medical doctor as well to rule out any major issues that may have occurred during your car accident.
The demands of daily modern life can trigger many spinal issues. It is possible to pull a muscle doing simple activities like laundry or even sleeping. The three major causes of alignment problems are trauma, poor posture and repetitive stress.
Many patients experience a pooping sound during adjustment. This sound is completely normal. The sound is produced by gasses released when your joints are being mobilized.
Our chiropractors can best answer this question after they assess your condition, record a health history and perform an exam. With this information they can make a treatment plan designed to help you achieve your goals.
The chiropractors at Inner Gate health & Wellness specialize in neuromuscular disorders, structural balance, and spinal health. They know that the human body can heal itself with help from chiropractic treatments, such as spinal manipulation and spinal decompression.
Our chiropractors perform adjustments to the spine or other parts of the body. The goal is to correct alignment problems, ease pain, and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. They may also use other treatments including:
-Heat and ice
-Electrical stimulation
-Relaxation techniques
-Rehabilitative and
-general exercise
-Counseling about diet, and other lifestyle factors.
Chiropractors undergo extensive training before treating patients for spine-related ailments. On average, chiropractors spend at least four years working on their Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree.
Chiropractic students complete a supervised clinical during their doctorate program prior to working as a solo practitioner. In Oregon, a chiropractor must also pass licensing exams before practicing. Many chiropractors also pursue additional educational opportunities after college so that they have a thorough understanding of modern wellness techniques.
At Inner Gate Health & Wellness our chiropractic team uses a natural healthcare approach that focuses on the relationship between the structure of the body, particularly the spine, and its function. It involves using manual techniques to manipulate the spine and other joints in order to alleviate pain, improve range of motion, and enhance overall well-being. Our chiropractors believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, and their goal is to help the body achieve optimal health and function.
Chiropractic care is beneficial for people of all ages and can address a wide range of health conditions, including back and neck pain, headaches, joint pain, sports injuries, and more. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, such as spinal adjustments, massage, and stretching, to help their patients achieve better health and wellness. By focusing on the body’s natural healing abilities, chiropractic care offers a safe and effective alternative to drugs and surgery for many common health issues. If you are looking for a natural and holistic approach to healthcare, consider chiropractic care as a way to support your overall well-being.
